Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso has denied claims that’s he rejected the chance to return to English Premier League in favour of Bayern Munich.
Alonso spent five seasons in England with Liverpool, winning Champions league in the process before moving to Real Madrid for 30 million pounds.
There were speculations in the summer linking him with Chelsea, Manchester United as well as Liverpool return but the former real Madrid player says Bayern Munich was the only club that came for him.
Alonso who also won the World cup with Spain claimed that he intended on staying at Real Madrid’s but the German team presented him with a chance to write a new chapter in his illustrious career.
Bayern lost star midfielder Toni Kroos to Real Madrid and could not have found a better replacement than Alonso who signed 2 year deal with the German Champions in the summer. Asked if he had other offers, Xabi said: “No. I only had this option. I needed a fresh start somewhere. This might be my last experience in football.”
