France v Albania - Group A: UEFA Euro 2016

Since seeing Paul Pogba depart from Turin, the Old Lady outfit has been in search of a quality and perhaps like-for-like replacement for the highly rated France international.

Despite landing former Roma midfielder, Pjanic, Juventus still have a couple of midfielders, majority box-to-box on their transfer wish list.

With less than 3 days to the end of the summer transfer window, here is a list of players the Serie A champions could land as the search for Paul Pogba’s replacement heightens.

Axel Witsel

The Belgium international is widely believed to be top of the list of preference as far as Max Allegri’s chances of landing a replacement goes, and if a deal can be secured within the next 72 hours remains to be seen.

Witsel has a year left on his current deal at Zenit St Petersburg and will likely leave as a free agent when it expires, to the loss of the Russian giants.

The Euros 2016 star already displayed why he would be a perfect fit for Pogba with an amazing display at the continental competition in France few months ago.

His stellar performances saw Everton make a move for him, with Koeman keen to land the 27-year-old. But the former Porto star rejected their offer as the Juve links intensified then.

Blaise Matuidi

The French midfielder isn’t part of Unai Emery’s plans at the Parc Des Princes as the new manager brought Grzegorz Kychowiak along with him from Sevilla.

With uncertainty looming over his future, Matuidi wants out and Juve are interested. The 29-year-old shares similar features with his compatriot and was seen as Pogba’s plan B at Manchester United if they had lost the youngster to Madrid.

Given that they share same agent in Mino Raiola, a move to Italy could still be worked out within the next few days in order to help save a career threatened by little playing time.

Having been omitted from the Spain squad to the Euros, Isco’s career at both club and national level continues to head south. The emergence and preference of Marco Asensio by Zidane further spells trouble for the once highly-rated skillful player.

Since failing to break into the first team after arriving from Malaga in 2013, his future always looked bleak with him getting linked with transfer away from Bernabeu every other transfer window.

This summer might be it as Juventus are monitoring the situation and could make a last minute approach.

Moussa Sissoko

The Newcastle midfielder saw his stocks rise after putting up impressive displays at the Euros. He already wants out after the side got relegated last season and was on Real Madrid’s wish list at a time.

Liverpool and Arsenal were also linked the powerful midfielder who publicly beckoned on big clubs to come get him. Allegri had him as a backup plan and it isn’t known if a rush hour move could get activated for the want-away star.

Steven N’Zonzi

Since leaving Stoke City, the uncapped French player has become a core in Sevilla’s midfield, and has attracted a couple of sides as a result.

The opportunity to move to a bigger side in order to fulfil his national team call up dream seems closer by the day, and Leicester City have been said to be interested.

Italian publication, Gazzetta dello Sport reports that N’Zonzi is “more than just an idea” for the reigning champions and arms are folded as per how that could materialize in the next few hours.

Paul Koroma

I learned all about life with a ball at my feet. Soccer allows me to push the limitation of creativity and express myself without saying a word. Soccer is my addiction. I train. I play, and I repeat every single day.
