A lot of people believe Liverpool would have had a better campaign last season if only Klopp had started it with them. The German tactician arrived with almost 10 games of the season gone after Brendan Rodgers was sacked as a result of the club’s poor start to the season. Despite having a squad needing major revamping at his disposal, he still guided them to 2 finals and an 8th place finish in the EPL. Ahead of a new season, the former Borussia Dortmund handler is set to make a couple of additions, and despite failing to qualify for any of the 2 European competitions, it is expected that his influence should still be able to command some quality signatures.
One player who has long been linked with an Anfield switch as far back as January is Poland international, Piotr Zielinski. The Udinese playmaker is said to have impressed Klopp, and has been identified as a worthy summer target. The 22-year-old was helpful as Poland secured qualifications for the Euros 2016, and he is expected to put up a great performance in France. The tournament will no doubt be an avenue for him to impress the watching eyes of Liverpool, with Klopp certain to use his performances to access him and make a final decision. Napoli would also be watching, as they have also shown interest in landing him since winter. Despite an opportunity to remain in the Serie A, it has been reported that Zielinski will reject Napoli’s offer and push for a Liverpool move.
Another quality youngster who has been identified with Liverpool transfer talks is Barcelona forward, Cristian Tello. Jurgen Klopp wants the Spanish winger who has been on loan away from Camp Nou since 2014 in Liverpool. The 24-year-old was loaned to FC Porto following the arrival of Luis Suarez, as it became evident playing time will get harder to come by. His 2-season loan with the Portuguese giants has come to an end, and he spent half of his last season in the Serie A with Fiorentina. An option to buy for £6.3million was however included, and a return to Barcelona doesn’t look to be on the cards. After an impressive outing that saw him score 2 goals and create 5 assists in 15 games, Fiorentina are willing to exercise their option to buy. Reports from Spain however claim that Liverpool want to win the battle for his signature and could successfully land Tello when the summer transfer window opens.
With some players set to leave Anfield, reports say Real Madrid are interested in snatching up Cameron Brannagan for £5.5million. The offer will also come with some additional clauses, and Real Madrid’s executive, Emilio Butragueno has told the club’s scout to secure the signature of the
Liverpool under-21 captain. Barcelona are also interested in the midfielder after their scouts were impressed with his displays for the youth side in the Champions League youth tournament last season. That was also when he impressed Real Madrid after he put up a great performance for the Liverpool side during the games against Real Madrid.
