BL: Borussia Moenchengladbach - 1.FSV Mainz 05

Liverpool continue to dominate the transfer headlines as Klopp’s dream for an ultimate dream continues. The Anfield outfit failed to secure a place in both of next season’s European club competitions, and that could setback their transfer ambitions with most quality players not keen to play for clubs not featuring in the Champions or Europa League. Despite that, Jurgen Klopp is still capable of attracting some quality signings, and a couple of them could arrive over the course of the summer transfer window.

Having released veteran defender, Kolo Toure, the club has lost another player in one 1 of their prospective stars, Joao Teixeira. The Portuguese midfielder has agreed to a free transfer to join FC Porto after 4 years with the Merseyside club. The 23-year-old never really found his rhythm with Liverpool, and was sparsely used since his arrival in 2012. The development of the once-a-very-promising player has stalled, and a move back home could set his back on the track. Klopp’s side will see a strong squad that includes the substitutes, and it is certain that average players won’t have a place in the team next season.

A player who could come in as Teixeira’s replacement is Borussia Monchengladbach’s young midfielder, Mahmoud Dahoud. The Germany under-21 international has impressed Klopp as a result of his performances last season, and he was keen to sign him for Liverpool this summer. However, latest reports claim that the purported £20million bid is set to be delayed until next summer. Having recently lost Granit Xhaka to Arsenal, Monchengladbach aren’t ready to let go of Mahmoud who has has identified as the club’s main man following the Swiss’ departure. Liverpool will have to wait till next summer if they are to complete a move for the highly rated midfielder, and despite the Manchester United links, Klopp is said to be willing to wait.

One player who could be arriving is Arsenal’s Theo Walcott. Having failed to nail down a regular starting spot at the Emirates, a move away looks to be on the books, and Anfield could be his next destination according to reports. Liverpool are preparing a £25million bid for the attacker in a deal that could see him spend 4 seasons at Anfield. The 27-year-old former Southampton winger missed out of England Euros 2016 squad due to his lack of form as a result of little playing time, and it is sure that an Arsenal exit is certain. If he wants a Liverpool switch is however unknown.

Meanwhile, the club’s youngster, Tom Brewitt has signed a contract extension. The contract of the 19-year-old central defender expired at the end of the season, but he will now remain and hope to break into the first team after agreeing new terms. The club is also close to securing the services of Udinese midfielder, Piotr Zielinski after they formally made a £9.5million offer for him. The Poland international has rejected a move to Napoli and an Anfield arrival looks certain.

I learned all about life with a ball at my feet. Soccer allows me to push the limitation of creativity and express myself without saying a word. Soccer is my addiction. I train. I play, and I repeat every single day.
