When you compare soccer to any other sport, you find that it is the most widely played and supported in the world. People love the sport because of its competitive feature and joyful experience while playing. However, the competitive feature makes it necessary for participants to learn additional skills in order to be the best. Whether you are the coach or the player, you need to know some of the drills that can help your team improve its performance.soccer running drills are among the many drills you can start with. Running drills are one of the easiest drills you can practice. You do not need to use the ball as the main objective is to learn endurance.

The following are some of the soccer running drills you can practice some:

The Timed Runs

Considering the fact that the soccer field is large and a player has to run throughout the game, it is important to be fit with endurance. Each player has to learn to endure the long and short runs required while playing. You can practice this drill by marking two separate spots on the field and have the players run forward and backward between the marked spots for any specified amount of time. This can be done repeatedly.

The Run and Shoot Drill

This drill also works well for players. You can start by getting the players around the center circle in two lines with each line facing the opposite goal. One by one, the players can make a few running steps before being given the ball to run for the goal and shoot. Don’t worry about the players missing the net, because that is not the main objective. The main concern is to get each player accustomed to running with a ball and learning the best ways of shooting to score while running. The players can do this repeatedly.

These soccer running drills are effective in ensuring a player develops individual fitness and endurance.

Paul Koroma

I learned all about life with a ball at my feet. Soccer allows me to push the limitation of creativity and express myself without saying a word. Soccer is my addiction. I train. I play, and I repeat every single day.
