Bundesliga high-flyers RB Leipzig have announced that they have completed the signing of French defender Ibrahima Konate from Sochaux.

The news was announced via club’s official Twitter account, while L’Equipe reveals the 18-year-old has signed a deal until June 2022.

The interesting thing is that the two clubs first began talks over Konate almost two years ago and they finally managed to reach an agreement ahead of the summer transfer window.

After making 12 appearances for Sochaux in French Ligue 2, the talented centre-back makes a switch to Bundesliga, where he will get a chance to continue his development.

Konate becomes club’s second signing of the summer transfer window, following in the footsteps of Young Boys goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo.
