New York City FC is one of the team in the Major League Soccer that has sign two major players. Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and World Cup winner David Villa are in the attacking force. Now, signing Xavi could be a next choice of the coach. However, i am a little confused whether it would make sense or not.

Jason Kris is a great fan of the Barcelona midfielder and is likely to sign the player in the upcoming transfer season. Xavi is one of the successful attacking midfielder of Spain as well as Barcelona.

However, he said in the press conference that “I am seeing fence around me signing Xavi.”  Now that he is thinking of signing the attacking midfielder, what would be the possible position of the player in the team? Of course, this would be great for MLS if the World Cup winner join the team. But, choosing the player would not make any sense to the club because each club is allowed to have three designated player slots.

New York City FC has already on the midfielder and in the attacking zone, David Villa. So, signing a defender designated player would be great to fulfill the team.

While answering about the rumor of signing Xavi in the upcoming transfer window, Kries simply confirmed that New York City FC is looking to invest on a designated player slot instead of experienced player.

Signing Xavi would not make sense because they already have a central midfielder. However,  signing another attacking player with David Villa could make sense for the club.

We never know what would happen and as to whether or not it would make sense for the team. However, the head coach really wants to have the player in the team to boost the midfielder position massively.
