Ahead of what promises to be a busy summer transfer window for the Reds, here are a long list of the players that have been linked with the Anfield outfit. However, it remains unknown which one will agree to a move given the club’s lack of European football next season.
Simon Mignolet’s future in between the sticks at Liverpool has always been in question following a couple of high-profile errors since Klopp’s arrival. Despite landing Loris Karius, another German goalie, Bernd Leno is being linked with a possible arrival by summer. Danny Ward and Adam Bodgan are on their way out of Anfield and there might be need to bring in another goalkeeper. The Bayer Leverkusen shot stopper has hinted at an exit, and if Liverpool will complete a move for him remains unknown.
Liverpool’s rearguard needs further strengthening following the imminent exits of Martin Skrtel, Kolo Toure and Sakho. Neven Subotic and Thomas Vermaelen are amongst a couple of defenders linked with a possible Anfield arrival. Subotic was an integral part of the Klopp-led team at the Signal Iduna Park and a reunion between both coach and player could be on the books. A exit from Dortmund looks almost certain after Subotic fell out in Thomas Tuchel’s ranking order. Vermaelen could also exit the Camp Nou after making just 11 La Liga appearances in 2 seasons. Klopp has been linked with the Belgian central back and if a formal bid is launched by Liverpool, he will definitely consider a move.
Leicester City’s full back, Ben Chilwell is set to leave the King Power Stadium after failing to get a sizeable amount of playing time since breaking into the first team. Liverpool have been linked with the 19-year-old and he is said to prefer a move to Anfield despite the Arsenal links.
In midfield, Real Madrid’s youngster, Mateo Kovacic has been linked with Liverpool. Breaking into the Bernabeu lineup isn’t looking easy for the youngster and Klopp will afford him a chance if he makes a move. With Balotelli set to be axed by the club, Liverpool are hoping to exchange him with Argentine and Lazio midfielder, Lucas Biglia. Biglia’s performance has impressed Klopp and the situation is still being monitored.
A wide range of attacking midfielders and wingers have been linked with Liverpool. Andre Schurrle, Mario Gotze, Theo Walcott, Andriy Yarmolenko, Marco Reus, Filip Kostic and Domenico Berardi make up the long line of players in the positions. Schurrle’s time at the EPL with Chelsea was short lived and he moved to Wolfsburg. Liverpool have been linked with wanting to make him return to England due to his dynamism. Gotze remains linked with Klopp and a reunion is still on the books. Walcott’s future at the Emirates is under doubt, and a surprise move to Liverpool is said to be in the offing. Ukraine international winger, Yarmolenko is set to move to the EPL with Everton, Chelsea and Liverpool linked with him. Reus could also leave the Signal Iduna Park and reunite with his old boss at Anfield. Serbian winger, Kostic is also on the radar due to his pace and dribbling abilities. Sassuolo’s Berardi helped the Serie A newcomers survive in the top-flight and the attacker has been linked with exits, with Liverpool interested in having him.
Robert Lewandowski, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Mauro Icardi, Khouma Babacar, and Kevin Volland are strikers that have all been linked with the Merseysiders.
