The two teams had good chances, more so in the second half but were unable to score. Chile and Mexico had qualified for 2014 world cup, but were eliminated in the round of sixteen.

Chile was eliminated by the host Brazil after losing in penalties while Mexico lost 2-1 to Netherlands. Their friendly match was played on Saturday at Levi’s stadium and managed to attract about 67175 fanatics with the majority supporting Mexico.

However, this did not stop Chile from defending their goal point. Mexico had 2 clear shots on target in a span of 2 minutes, but made no difference on the score sheet. Giova was left alone with the goalkeeper in the 65th minute but slightly missed the target, while in the 67th minute, Javier Antonio received a pass just in front of the goal, but again slightly missed the target.

Paul Koroma
