Shin guards are very important for every soccer player since they prevent the shin from getting injured. Moreover, cleaning them will not only prevent bad odor but also ensure that molds and fungus do not grow on them. The method you choose to wash the shin guards completely depends on the material from which they are made of .

Shin guards that have protective lining may be washed in a washing machine. However, you should be careful if you decide to use this method because the shin guards may get destroyed from banging in the machine due to the spin cycle. In order to prevent this kind of damage, you may put the shin guards in a pillow case before putting them in the washing machine.

To clean plastic sheen guards use water and a mild detergent. However, first ensure that they are dry then remove hard dirt on the shin guard by wiping them with a clean dry towel. Fetch some warm water in a bucket then add the detergent. If the shin guards are smelly, you may add a little fabric softener so as to remove the bad odor. Immerse the shin guards in the bucket of warm water and let them soak for thirty minutes.

Use a soft brush or a towel to scrub the shine guard in order to remove stubborn dirt. When they are completely clean, remove them from the water .Rinse them with clean water to remove the detergent then hang them out to dry under the sun. This is advisable because the sun also acts as a disinfecting agent.

Alternatively, you may use a mild detergent and baking powder in water to clean shin guards. This is an amazing simpler way since all you need to do, is to soak them in the warm water that contains the mixture for about fifteen minutes, drain out the water and rinse the shin guards then hang them out to dry in the sun.

After they are completely dry, spray them with a disinfectant to get rid of and prevent any growth of bacteria, fungus or mold. By doing this, you also prevent the occurrence of bad odors. It is important to note that regular cleaning will not only ensure that they remain in a good condition but also enable you to use them for a longer period of time.
