Brushing aside recent rumors linking him to several teams, the agent of Gareth Bale asserted that the winger intends to stay with Real Madrid.
“Gareth’s future is at Real Madrid,” Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett insisted. “In his first year he won the Champions League and the cup in Spain. This time he is in the semifinals of the Champions League. Why would he go somewhere else?”
However, the agent also admitted that there are a lot of teams that have taken an interest in getting his ward’s services, noting that he is considered as one of the top three players that many squads are gunning for. Manchester United is the team that is reportedly the most interested in adding Bale to their ranks, having tried to sign him up in 2013, only to be beaten by Madrid for the bid with the Whites’ record £85 million offer. Analysts expect the Red Devils to again make an offer to the 25-year old player this summer.
Barnett also defended Bale from criticisms that he is giving out a lacklustre performance this season, saying that the player is more than capable of handling the pressure. “He’s not a schoolboy, He doesn’t need a nanny. He’s a footballer,” the agent retorted. Bale received a lot of negative feedback from analysts for his poor showing during the first leg of their Champions League semis match against Juventus, with former football player Roy Keane saying t5hat the winger is practically absent in the entire match.
Barnett also brushed aside speculations that Bale and teammate Cristiano Ronaldo are not in a good working relationship with each other, which critics claim caused Real the win. The agent insisted that everything is well with Bale and his fellow players, and that he has the solid backing of everyo9ne in the team, including Madrid president Florentino Perez, who has earlier praised Bale.
