FC Dallas made their first playoff appearance with a bang, for the first time since 2011 and managed to beat their opponents, Vancouver 2 goals to 1.

They are however expected to face supporters shield holders, Seattle Sounders on Saturday at Toyota stadium. The western conference knockout round match between FC Dallas and whitecaps went down as planned at Toyota stadium on Wednesday night.

Both teams had great opportunities in the first half with Vancouver wasting a great opportunity in the 27th minute after chris Seitz, FCD goalkeeper pulled a superb save from Pedro Morales efforts.

In the 40th minute, FC Dallas found the net and registered the first goal after Diazi took a perfect throw in to the midfield and Akindele did not hesitate to finish with a shot on goal with a slight help from Andy O’Brien, whitecaps defender’s deflection.

During the second half, Vancouver were eager to get an equalizer and increase their chances of avoiding a knockout. Their efforts were later rewarded in the 64th minute when Hurtado found the back of the net following a rebound from a blocked shot in the box.

In the 82nd minute, waston, Vancouver’s defender touched the ball with his hand in the box while trying to clear a long FCD throw in and the referee did not hesitate to point at the spot. Michael was happy to take over the penalty kick and converted it with ease to give FC Dallas the winning score.
