Samuel Eto’o’s late goal salvaged a point for Everton in their Europa League group H game at FK Krasnodar. The Cameroon international slotted home from the Leighton Baines cross with eight minutes remaining.Brazilian forward Ari had given the home side the lead after capitalising on a mistake from Phil Jagielka.

The Merseyside club now have four points from their two Group H games.

The manager, Roberto Martinez reiterated his desire to go as far as possible in this season’s competition as the Everton side showcased a bright, attacking display to secure the draw. However, the strong side placed by the Spaniard was unable to play with the flair and looked very average against the Russian side.

Roberto Martinez said at the end of the game that “Today gave us a lot of experience. It has been a very good lesson for us. I think anything you can get away from home is a positive.’’ “I think in the end we deserved it. I was delighted with the character that we showed.” The Merseyside club did secure the draw and the manager is happy with the result. However, the Russian side would argue that they deserved to win with such a flurry of attacks and the chances they created.
