CSKA Moscow came back from 2 goals down to draw against Manchester City in a match played in the CSKA Moscow stadium. The game was played under the freezing conditions of subzero temperatures in Russia and also played in an empty stadium because of sanctions by UEFA.
Sergio Aguero had given the visitors the lead in the 29th minute when he tapped in, a Edin Dzeko pass, into the empty net. James Milner had given the visitors a two goal cushion in the first half when he slid the ball into the CSKA Moscow net. The game looked comfortable for Manchester City as they looked to cruise past the Moscow side. However. Second half was a different story.
Doumbia scored at the hour mark to bring the home side into the game. Some lifeline was offered to CSA Moscow after the goal and buoyed by the goal, they starter pressing for the leveler. Late in the second half, Doumbia was adjudged to have been fouled by Kolarov in the box and a penalty was awarded which Bedras Natcho converted to give the home side the draw.
The penalty was questionable as there seemed to be minimal contact by Kolarov and Doumbia went tumbling which would anger the English clubs’ fans. Manchester City now only have 2 points from their first 3 games in the Champion’s League Group E match and their hopes of qualifying for the next round looks slim after yesterday’s draw.
