It started as a nightmare for Portland timbers as they faced a daunting task battling with their opponents, Olimpia. The CONCACAF champions league match went down on Tuesday night in the presence of a lively crowd at Estadio Tiburcio Carias Andino.

Amazingly, the timbers came in to the match unbeaten in their 3 CCL matches and 2 goals ahead of Olimpia. Olimpia however dominated the match from the first half and did not hesitate to take the lead.

2 minutes into the game, Quioto received a long ball which he perfectly controlled and managed to maneuver around getting past 2 Portland defenders and flipped a shot that went over jake Gleeson, timbers goalkeeper finding the crossbar and bounced back into the empty net.

Things got worse for the timbers 2 minutes later when Lozano received a pass from omar Guerra and tapped the ball inside the net. In the second half, the timbers seemed to get things back on track, but their efforts gave them only a consolation goal.

In the 52nd minute, a right footed shot from Zemanski took a deflection from an olimpia defender and went past Donis Escober, Olimpia goalkeeper.

Their chances to equalize were dimmed two minutes later when Olimpia answered with Lozano scoring the winning goal. Both teams are now tied at 9 points, but Olimpia advance due to more away goals.

To advance to the MLS cup playoffs, Portland timbers ought to win the upcoming match against FC Dallas on Saturday and hope that Vancouver will either lose or draw against Colorado Rapids.

I learned all about life with a ball at my feet. Soccer allows me to push the limitation of creativity and express myself without saying a word. Soccer is my addiction. I train. I play, and I repeat every single day.
