After a seemingly underwhelming season, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly set to leave the Whites this summer.
The report came in days before Ancelotti is set to take charge of Madrid’s home game against Getafe. The match is Real’s last game for the season, but is also reportedly going to be the 55-year old manager’s final game before making his exit from the team.
Ancelotti has been heavily criticized by fansx and the media for his failure to win any of the major titles this season. Madrid while they were one of the heavy favourites in the early rounds of the Champions League, the team was bested by Juventus with a 3-2 aggregate win to move to the finals. Earlier, they also had a scare when they were nearly eliminated by Schalke in the Round of 16.
Ancelotti’s men also came short in the La Liga race with them being four points behind winners Barcelona. Meanwhile, the team was eliminated by city rival Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey.
According to Sky Sports Italia, the manager is set to meet with Madrid president Florentino Perez on Sunday to discuss the termination of his co9ntract. Ancelotti still has one year left in his current term.
Should Ancelotti leave, reports say that Napoli boss Rafa Beni8tez is the one most likely being considered by Bernabeu management. Benitez is expected to leave Naples this summer, after the squad was ousted in the Europa League race.
On the other hand, Ancelotti is said to be going for a one year sabbatical before coming back to football. Howe4ver, there are already several teams that are expected to make a run for him. AC Milan is reportedly the most interested, with the manager said to be in close contact with Milan general manager Adriano Galliani. Barcelona is also rumoured to make a surprise bid on Ancelotti if Luis Enrique exits.
