Bradley the New York Red Bulls striker helped his team thump their rivals Seattle Sounders 4-1 on Saturday night. Phillip scored his third hat trick this season after scoring three goals for Red Bulls and he is now the leading in the MLS golden boot statistics at 24 goals. He stands a better opportunity to break the 27 goal MLS record by Wondolowski in 2012 and Roy Lassiter in 1996 being left with five more regular games to play this season.

Bradley Phillip scored the first goal of the match in the 29th second after oyongo’s shot was blocked but Phillip was there to make a rebound behind sounders goalkeeper. However, Seattle sounders were able to contain their rivals and managed to defend perfectly up to the half time. 8 minutes after the half time, Lloyd Sam was brought down in the penalty box where Phillip again converted the kick to a goal making it 2-0.

Less than two minutes after the penalty kick, Phillip scored his third goal following a cross from Roy Miller. The exhausted 29 year old forward was then replaced in the 58th minute by Tom Cahill who made things 4-0 7 minutes in to the game. However, Sounders Seattle managed to have one goal in the 62nd minute following a substitution that saw Clint Dempsey in the game in the 60th minute.

Mike Petke, Red Bulls Coach later claimed that Phillip have improved his game and he deserves to be in the MVP conversation.

Paul Koroma
