After a really exciting Last of 16 stage, where the Champions League saw a lot of surprising victories and turnarounds, fans are excited for the quarterfinals. And with the draws announced, one of the awaited matchups is that of the two Madrids, as Atletico Madrid is set to clash with Real Madrid.

Atletico was the first one of the two to secure a quarterfinals slot after winning against Bayer Leverkusen via a penalty shootout that broke their 1-1 draw. On the other hand, Real Madrid managed to sneak past Schalke on a 5-4 aggregate score despite a dramatic 4-3 loss in the second leg that nearly saw them knock out.

The two teams have already met on the field several times during the season, with Atletico winning their Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Ray lst of 16 encounters, as well as bagging both legs of their La Liga encounter.

On the other hand, Real Madrid emerged victorious in the two teams’ Champions League finals match last season, with a 4-1 final score. This despite all the efforts made by Atletico’s Diego Godin, who scored the team’s only goal in the match. The Makers are set to get their revenge in the upcoming match, with them riding high on a victory against heavy favourites Chelsea.

Another quarterfinals match that is expected to be closely followed is that of Paris Saint Germain against Barcelona, with PSG seeking to get revenge on the Barcas after their 2013 quarterfinals encounter.

Other quarterfinals matches are that of Bayern Munich against Porto and Monaco versus Juventus, who are both tied at 14 points.
