FC Pune city pulled up their socks to register an unexpected win in a match against the Indian super league leaders Atletico de Kolkata in front of 21,550 fans.

The hosting team seemed to dominate the match in the first half, but the visitors out-muscled them by the end of the day. The match went down as expected at salt lake stadium on Friday night. The visitors did not hesitate to take the lead in the first half through Nigerian forward, Dudu Omagbemi in the 35th minute.

Dudu took over Trezeguet’s position following his absence. 10 minutes after half time, the visitors doubled the lead through Kostas Katsouranis, Greek midfielder to take over the advantage.

The host however managed to get a consolation goal in the 83rd minute when Fikru Teferra, Ethiopian striker converted a penalty kick after he was brought down in the box by Arindam Bhattacharya, Pune Goal keeper.

With one minute left, Pune killed the game with the third goal through Davide Colomba curled free kick. Despite the 3-1 loss at home on Friday, Kolkata remain at the top of the table with 12 points and 2 points ahead of Chennaiyin FC who have two more games to play. The two league leaders are expected to clash on 14th November.
