Danny Welbeck scored a first half hat-trick as Arsenal beat travelling Galatasaray side 4-1 in a heated Champion’s League Group D game. Alexis Sanchez also scored a goal in the first half. Arsenal, coming back from the 1-1 draw against Tottenham in the Premier league last week, secured their first win in this year’s chamipons League.
In a night which was marred by the travelling Galatasaray fans throwing flares into the pitch, the action on the pitch was not less thrilling. Burak Yilmaz scored a penalty after Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was sent off for a foul, but it was to be nothing more than a consolation, as the Galatasaray side were unable to mount any challenge in the Emirates Stadium.
Welbeck has answered his critics, most particularly Louis Van Gaal, the newly appointed Manchester United manager, and the Manchester United management for selling their only remaining academy player. Louis Van Gaal said that they had to sell Welbeck because he did not score enough goals. With Rooney suspended, Van Persie aging and Falcao taking his time to settle into the premier league, I guess he laments the sale of Welbeck after his last night’s hat-trick.
