Club Atletico de Madrid v Real Madrid CF La Liga

It’s season 2 of the Real Madrid versus Atletico Madrid finals on tonight in Italy, and the showdown promises to be more than a cracker. Just less than 2 years ago, both clubs clashed in the finals for the first time, and Real took the trophy via a 4-goal comeback. Despite leading by a lone goal until the 92nd minute of the game, Atletico couldn’t keep it going till the end. Will history repeat itself this time, or will it be rewritten? Ahead of the game, here are what we could likely witness.

Carvajal. Pepe. Ramos. Marcelo.

Casemiro. Kroos. Modric.

Bale. Benzema. Ronaldo.

Juanfran. Gimenez. Godin. Luiz

Fernandez. Gabi. Koke

Saul. Griezmann

This wouldn’t be an harvest of goals. And we could see a 1 – 0, 1 – 1 or 2 – 1 scoreline at the end of the day. This could go both ways as no side is clear favourites. It’s a 90-minute final, with Madrid hoping to get that 11th European glory while Atleti will hope to win their first ever. It won’t come easy for either sides.

Since Ancelloti led Real Madrid to the Decima in 2014, Los Blancos are yet to win a game against their city rivals in 6 attempts. It could be the 7th failed attempt tonight given how the Simeone-powered side made it to the finals this time. Barcelona and Bayern were not enough barriers to prevent the Vicente Calderon side from reaching their destination, and Madrid don’t look like enough threat to stop them for a 2nd time.

He led Rojablancos to the finals with 3 strikes, and he has more than enough to put Madrid to the sword this night. The France international has been splendid in front of goal, and his ability to convert the few chances that come his way make him all lethal. This is his first-ever Champions League finals, and definitely he would want to put up his finest performance ever. Will he eventually?

The last time, a toe injury saw the Wales international miss several chances to put the ball behind Courtois. It’s a different ball game this time, or so should it be. He has a point to proof. Can he hold it down on the biggest of nights?

Adding a 2nd Champions League trophy to his feathers is very tempting for the former Chelsea forward. He has suddenly found his form, and it is expected he delivers the goods on the biggest of nights.

3 finals and 2 wins. CR7 definitely wants to make it a 3rd winners medals this night. 16 goals already, and he could break his own 17-goal record with a brace tonight. Scoring 1 against Atletico isn’t the easiest of feats, but what about 2 goals? If there is a player that can do it though, it’s Ronaldo.

The youngster has established himself in the Atletico side, and has seen the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and the likes eyeing a summer swoop. He has a chance to show the world why he is the big deal. Will he take it?

This game will definitely bring out the beasts and giants in the players, and it should go down as one of the most keenly contested Champions League finals.

May the best man win!!!

I learned all about life with a ball at my feet. Soccer allows me to push the limitation of creativity and express myself without saying a word. Soccer is my addiction. I train. I play, and I repeat every single day.
